The Nintendo Wii is probably the console that would be widely avaiable. It is valued at around £180-£220+. It is avaiable to pre-order here.It is probably the cheapest latest console compared with the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
The Wii has a unique game controller that can be used to swing for a punch in a boxing game smash a home run in a baseball game. I'm not a fan of this controller which frankly looks like a tv remote control, but then again I haven't experienced its uses.
Backward Compatibility
The Wii can play both Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo DS games. It can even play the old school console games for the NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx16.
Personally I would not purchase the Nintendo Wii, however if you are a parent or strap for cash then this would be the ideal choice.
